TOWN OF FAIRHAVEN WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

SEWER SYSTEM MAINTENANCE CRAFTSMAN

·         Must have a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Operator’s Certification minimum Grade IV.

·         CDL License (Class B minimum). 

·         High school education with four years experience in maintenance and construction work on public works projects or any equivalent combination of education and experience. 

·         Semi-skilled manual work in construction and maintenance of sewer related public works activities requiring ability to operate special department equipment.

·         Will perform necessary maintenance work at the sewer treatment plant such as cleaning tanks, sandblasting, painting and any other work assigned by superintendent or related work as required. 

·         Operates rodding and cable equipment, compressors and jackhammer, sewer pumps, light trucks or any other equipment operated by motor equipment operations such as snowplowing or any equipment assigned by superintendent. 

·         Replaces sewer services to houses, including trenching, laying pipe and sealing connections.  Operates sewer pumps and all related equipment in sewer pumping stations. 

·         Makes repairs to pumps and station equipment.

·         Does assigned maintenance and repair work at the sewer treatment plant.

·         Operates sewer line cleaning machines including main line cable and rodding machine and cleaning equipment.

·         Operates equipment to clean out the septage chamber and other areas at the treatment plant.  Operates sludge processing equipment.

·         Lays sewer mains, trunk lines and constructs manholes in sewer construction projects. 

·         Will inspect sewer service installations, mains and manholes. 

·         Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as assigned or required.
